Modern Guide to Whey Protein Isolate

How Important is Protein?

Protein is paramount to maximizing Muscle and Recovery and it’s no surprise that serious athletes go to some pretty extreme measures to ensure that they meet their daily protein requirements.

Not getting enough protein could mean that you’re not getting all the progress you’ve earned and that you deserve from your hours in the gym.

Some of us, despite our best efforts and for many different reasons, find it hard to get all the protein we need from lean whole food sources.

Supplementing with a high-quality whey protein isolate can help you meet your protein intake goals and; therefore, allow you to achieve more!

Whey Isolate Protein supplementation is delicious, convenient, and well absorbed, making it perfect for adding protein to your diet and Increasing Muscle Growth and Muscle Recovery.

Whether your goal is to Build Muscle or Body Composition Change, a Whey Protein Isolate Powder supplement can help you achieve it!
What is Whey Isolate?

100% Whey Protein Isolate must be over 90% whey protein by weight, making it the highest quality whey protein available!

What is Whey Protein Isolate?

100% Whey Protein Isolate must be over 90% whey protein by weight, making it the highest quality whey protein available!

Types of Whey Protein

Whey Protein Concentrate. Whey concentrate is the least processed form of whey protein and the cheapest to manufacture.

Whey Protein Concentrates range from 34% to 80% protein by weight, depending on quality, and Whey Protein Concentrates contain fat and lactose. [7]

Whey Protein Isolate. Whey Isolate is a form of Whey Protein that is processed to remove most fat and lactose.

Whey Protein Isolates are around 90% protein by weight, and as Isolate Protein Powder costs more to produce than simple Whey Protein Concentrates do, Isolate Whey Protein costs more in general. [8]

Whey Protein Hydrolysate. Whey Protein Hydrolysate is a form of Whey Protein that has been “hydrolyzed."  This is a process that breaks down amino acid chains for easier digestion.

Whey Protein Hydrolysates are not Protein Quality Dependent and can be manufactured from Whey Protein Concentrate or Whey Protein Isolate.  They Hydrolysation process determines whether a Whey Protein is considered a Hydrolysate or not.

Whey hydrolysate is the most expensive of the three options due to the additional processing requirement, not due to the quality of the protein.

Why 100% Whey Isolate?

Whey Protein Concentrates are the cheapest proteins available and can range from around 34% protein to 80% protein. If you’re buying a cheap protein, you may very well be purchasing a whey protein that is only 34% Whey Protein. Ever wonder what the other 66% is?

Protein Spiking!

Supplement companies have been recently caught adding cheap fillers, like Maltodextrin, or “Spiking” their products with filler Amino Acids to bulk up their products or to make you think you’re getting more protein than you really are! [9]

Choosing a high-quality Isolate Protein means that you’re getting the highest percentage protein possible, but make sure to check your Whey Isolate Nutrition Facts to see what has been added to the Whey Isolate Protein Powder. It’s still possible and unfortunately common to add sugar, artificial colors and other less than desirable ingredients to an otherwise Awesome Isolate Protein Powder.

Better Digestibility!

Whey Protein Isolate contains less than 1% lactose and is easier to digest because nearly all of the lactose has been removed.

A good isolate protein powder may cost more, but it is certainly worth it in our opinion.
